Ying Bi

RNFSA

Practice Administrator

Ms. Ying graduated from Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) in 2010 and has since worked as a peri-operative nurse in the operating theatre at MercyAscot Hospitals. She qualified as a Registered Nurse First Surgical Assistant (RNFSA) in 2017 following the completion of a competitive course and is one of the few RNFSA in Auckland.

Ying is Dr. Nagham’s Registered Nurse First Surgical Assistant and became her Practice Administrator in 2022. Ying who is fluent in both English and Chinese provides administrative support and facilitates Dr. Nagham’s patients journey to surgery.

Dr. Tom Fernandez

MBChB (Auckland), FANZCA

Anaesthetist

Dr. Tom is a New Zealand trained specialist anaesthetist who obtained his medical degree from the University of Auckland and Fellowship through the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. He works in private and public through Epsom Anaesthesia and the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, Auckland City Hospital. He completed liver transplant fellowship experience at the University of California, San Francisco where he was the first international recipient of the Haile T Debas Academy of Medical Educators teaching award.

His clinical interests include anaesthesia for liver transplant, colorectal, vascular, urological, regional and major abdominal surgery. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland and within his department is Fellowship Director, Supervisor of training and an active member of the wellbeing team. He has worked with NA Surgical since 2015 and is Dr. Nagham’s lead anaesthetist.

Dr Sarah Nicolson

MBChB (Otago), FANZCA

Anaesthetist

Dr. Sarah graduated from Otago Medical School in 1993 and subsequently completed specialty training with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in 2003. Having trained in Christchurch, Miami, London and Melbourne, Dr Sarah returned to Auckland in 2004 where she works at Te Toka Tumai Auckland City Hospital and Mercy Hospital. As well as a breadth of anaesthetic experience including neurosurgery, emergency and trauma surgery, and interventional radiology, Sarah has enjoyed many years working with colorectal surgeons both in public and private practice.

As a complement to her clinical practice, Dr. Sarah has roles in ANZCA and with the Medical Council of New Zealand in education, governance, and regulation.

Dr. Tim Hall

MBChB (Auckland), FANZCA

Anaesthetist

Dr. Tim is a New Zealand trained specialist anaesthetist and registered Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, He gained his initial medical degree from the University of Auckland and then undertook overseas training in the United Kingdom and Canada before returning to Auckland, Dr Tim practices in the public system at Auckland City Hospital and National Women’s Hospital and works in private practice at various facilities around Auckland.

Tim has a keen interest in the perioperative care of patients and has been awarded the ANZCA subspeciality qualification in Perioperative Medicine.

Dr. Mark Welch

MBChB, FANZCA

Anaesthetist

Dr. Mark is an Auckland-trained Specialist Anaesthetist, who has both private and public practices. His specialty interest areas include anaesthesia for general and laparoscopic surgery, and endoscopy. He has fellowship training in Auckland, and at The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne in the areas of vascular and liver surgery, trauma, and regional anaesthesia. 

Mark’s public appointment is at Auckland City Hospital – Te Toka Tumai.
